Senior Process Development Engineer
General Responsibilities As part of the wafer fab team the Process Development Engineer is primarily responsible for developing and improving unit processes used to create the company’s fuel cell MEMS structures. A Senior Engineer is an experienced professional with a complete understanding of standard process engineering methods, who receives little instruction for routine work, and only general instructions for assigned projects.
Specific responsibilities
-
Develop and improve MEMS manufacturing processes including photolithography, etch, thin films, plating, wafer bond and metrology processes.

Integrate process modules into complete flows. Identify and solve process integration problems. Work with device design engineering to ensure design-process compatibility.

Write specifications and instructions for the processes developed. Transfer processes to production and provide any required training.

Maintain detailed records of process development activities, and ensure process changes are tracked. Effectively communicate activities and process information.

Create and execute detailed project plans to meet the company’s design-process specifications, schedule and cost goals. Use initiative and judgment to prioritize projects and drive them to completion.

Manage equipment evaluations, qualifications and installations. Work with external vendors.
-
Design, execute and analyze experiments. Present data, analysis and recommendations both orally and in writing.

Assist with sustaining processes, yield improvement tasks, technician management and equipment support as required.
Requirements
-
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science. Master’s preferred.

Minimum 5 years MEMS/semiconductor process engineering experience. Minimum 3 years conducting development work. Experience must include photolithography, dry etch, wet etch and thin films.

Minimum 3 years experience with DRIE and at least one of the following areas: wafer bonding, plating, ion beam processes, CVD, or PVD.

Experience utilizing DOE, SPC, Gage R&R, process capability and statistical analysis.

Demonstrated ability to plan, conduct and manage projects of moderate scope.

Strong personal computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, and proficient at writing technical reports and process instructions.

A willingness and desire to work hands on.
Reports To - Director of MEMS Process Development
Open Position: Principal, Lead Engineer, Package Development
Reporting to the CTO / VP Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading major design and development projects related to releasing the company’s first generation MEMS fuel cell devices to volume manufacturing. Specific responsibilities include all development and technical aspects of the MEMS chip package, such as establishing the chip package architecture, selecting appropriate technologies and manufacturing processes for prototypes and volume production, and establishing the development programs to realize performance and cost targets.

portable power market. The company’s breakthrough Fuel Cell on a Chip™
technology enables order-of-magnitude run-time improvement for portable
consumer electronics. Lilliputian Systems is a start-up company backed
by top venture capital firms and preparing for first product launch.
Position Description
Reporting to the VP of Product
Development, the successful candidate will lead critical prototyping
and product development efforts for the highly motivated development
team at Lilliputian Systems. The Senior Systems Engineer will be
responsible for product architecture, user interface, system design and
component development for a MEMS-based micro fuel cell used to power
portable consumer electronics.
Responsibilities
Lead development efforts to improve the
performance of advanced prototypes and support prototype testing
internally and at customer sites world-wide
Lead productization efforts including,
selecting system architecture and component technologies, developing
system design and component requirements, managing vendor component
development, integrating and testing beta systems
Experience
- 10+
years, in a leadership position, for the design and transition to
manufacturing of high volume, multi-disciplinary, systems products
required
- Consumer electronics devices experience highly desired
- Significant experience required in several of the following areas:
- System modeling
- Fuel cell or fluidic systems
- Precision fluidic controls
- Miniaturized pumps and valves
- Mass flow sensors and controllers
- Electronics design and packaging
- Control theory and embedded control subsystems
- Should
be self motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical
thinking capabilities; ability to independently determine and develop
original technical approaches
- Must
have excellent analytical skills; must have experience with modeling
systems and analyze data using MATLAB, Excel and similar tools,
experience with FEA and other advanced modeling tools preferred
- Needs
to be able to communicate well with cross-functional team members, be
able to efficiently collaborate with team members to achieve project
goals, and contribute positively to the engineering community
environment
Education
Engineering degree in EE, ME, Aerospace or equivalent, advanced degree preferred
